The Westboro Baptist Church have taken their pickets to bizarre new levels. The church, which made their evil name by picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers killed in action while attributing their deaths to acceptance of homosexuality in society, are now protesting the Southern Baptist Convention in Houston, Texas.

This is despite the Southern Baptist Convention attracting the ire of gay-rights campaigners for the Southern Baptists’ horrible, backward attitudes toward gay rights.

Earlier in the year the Southern Baptists were one of the religious groups that severed ties with the Boy Scouts of America over the Scouts’ deciding to relinquishing their ban on gay members.

The Southern Baptists’ website states clearly their stance on homosexuality:

We affirm God’s plan for marriage and sexual intimacy — one man, and one woman, for life. Homosexuality is not a “valid alternative lifestyle.” The Bible condemns it as sin. It is not, however, unforgivable sin. The same redemption available to all sinners is available to homosexuals. They, too, may become new creations in Christ.

“Not unforgivable.”

Westboro would most likely refer to the Southern Baptists as “Splitters.”
