Boucha Bagour appeared to court yesterday in southern France after authorities were notified that she had sent her son to school wearing a shocking and offensive t-shirt last Semptember, reports Sky News.
1. The Shirt Referenced 9/11
The 3-year-old was wearing a shirt that said "I am a bomb" on the front, and "Jihad, born September 11" on the back.
2. It's A Play On A French Saying
Apparently, the shirt is a play on the French saying "Je suis la bombe," which must be similar to those Americans on the cutting edge of coolness who refer to themselves "da bomb."
3. The Boy's Name is Jihad
Ms. Bagour's defended herself saying "For me, this is the name of my son and his date of birth," and she thought that the shirt might make people laugh.
4. It Was Given To Her By Her Brother
Zeyad Bagour, Ms. Bougar's brother, who gave the boy the shirt as a present, is being charged alongside his sister for "glorifying crime." Both are denying the charges.
5. The Case Will Be Decided Next Month
The prosecutor asked for fines of 1,000 euros, or $1310, against Ms Bagour and 3,000 euros, or nearly $4000, for her brother if they are found guilty.
