Laura Bush has officially been removed from a pro-gay marriage ad that used her comments without her permission.

I guess it's news that Laura Bush was on a pro-gay ad in the first place ... and it definitely was news to her. Apparently the previous first lady had no idea she was on the ad until it was aired. The Respect For Marriage Coalition, which launched the national campaign, admitted it did not ask her permission and has since removed her from the ad.

As you can see in the video below — the national ad featured a clip from Laura Bush' 2010 interview with Larry King, where she says:

When couples are committed to each other and love each other, then they ought to have the same sort of rights that everyone has.

The former first lady's socially liberal views have been documented before. So while her comments were used without permission, they weren't exactly taken out of context.

Below is the full Larry King interview, from which the comment in question was excerpted.
