The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department reported that Christopher Dorner's autopsy revealed that the fugitive ex-cop died of a single self-inflicted gun wound.
Capt. Kevin Lacey spoke at a news conference on Friday afternoon.
"The information we have right now seems to indicate that the wound that took Christopher Dorner's life was self-inflicted," Lacey said.
Dorner's charred remains were pulled out of a burned down cabin after cops accidentally ignited a blaze by shooting a pyrotechnic device inside to lure him out. His body was positively identified on Thursday using dental records.
The fugitive's death ended a killing spree against the LAPD that sparked the biggest manhunt in California history. Dorner is alleged to have killed four people including two officers and a college basketball coach who was the daughter of a former LAPD official.
