George Stephanopoulos just made a boneheaded, racially charged gaffe that is doubly disastrous as is happened on Martin Luther King Day.
Commentating the second inauguration of President Barack Obama, the former political advisor turned television journalist was narrating as ABC cameras combed the crowd for notable attendees.
As the camera settled on Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell, one of the greatest professional basketball players in history and a heroic pioneer — the first African-American coach in the NBA — George misidentified Russell as esteemed actor Morgan Freeman.
Both men are black and both have white beards. Apparently that's enough for George.
TMZ has the video.
