Florida Car Wreck Kills Father and Three Children

A 41-year-old male driver and his three children died in a car wreck in Lake County, Florida on Friday after he lost control of his car, report authorities. The driver lost control of the 2009 Mercedes at about 6:45 p.m. as he came up on a curve and barreled into several trees and a pole before coming to a rest.

The ages of the children have not yet been confirmed, but one of the boys was pronounced dead at the scene and another boy and a little girl in a car seat died at Southlake Hospital. The father was also pronounced dead at the scene.

Neighbors call the curb “a dead man’s curb” and say that the portion of the road is extremely dangerous.

“That curve is really dangerous, something needs to be done about it,” a neighbor said.

The speed limit on the road is 60 miles per hour and investigators are working to learn how fast the driver was going. All passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident; two only had a lap belt on, but investigators say the impact was so powerful, it wouldn’t have mattered.

The victims identities have yet been released to the public.
