Lostprophets Singer Ian Watkins Charged with ‘Conspiracy to Rape a 1-Year-Old’

Ian Watkins, lead singer of Brit band Lostprophets, appeared in court today in Cardiff, Wales, charged with child sex offenses including “conspiracy to rape a 1-year-old child,” report DigitalSpy. He is also charged with “possession and distribution of indecent images of children.”

Watkins is charged with two, as yet, unnamed women, of conspiring to rape a girl aged under 13. The women both appeared in court in Wales despite being from England, they are aged 20 and 24.

According to The Guardian, the charges include:

possessing, making and distributing indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography, some of which involves animals.

His Lawyer, Tom Crowther told reporters that his client denied the charges and that the band have canceled a planned tour. The three charged have been denied bail and will appear in court again in Cardiff on New Year’s Eve.

South Wales police named Watkins in a press release adding:

Lostprophets had a No.1 album in the UK in 2005 with Liberation Transmission, their latest album Weapons was released in April and reached No. 9 in the UK charts. Watkins was one of the co-founders of the band in 1997 in the Welsh town of Pontypridd.
