Universal Sues Porn Makers over ‘50 Shades of Grey’ Ripoff

Universal Studios is suing several porn companies for ripping off “50 Shades of Grey,” to which is has movie rights. Shouldn’t we have all seen this coming? There’s no way the XXX industry would stay away from such an erotic sensation. Let’s face it, the dirty novel would probably be better off as a XXX movie, but you don’t mess with Universal Studios.

50 Shades Of Grey

According to TMZ, Universal filed a lawsuit against three porn companies for an unauthorized film called “Fifty Shades of Grey: a XXX Adaptation.” Not only that, but the companies also produced “50 Shades of Grey”-themed sex toys. Universal and Fifty Shades Ltd. claim that the X-rated film is purely a ripoff and not a parody.

According to the suit, “The first XXX adaptation … does not comment on, criticize, or ridicule the originals. It is a rip-off, plain and simple. By lifting exact dialogue, characters, events, story, and style from the Fifty Shades trilogy, [producer] Smash Pictures ensured that the first XXX adaptation was, in fact, as close as possible to the original works.”

Apparently, two more XXX ripoffs are in the works, but Universal is going to try and block the production.
