NBA Commissioner David Stern announced today that he plans on stepping down as NBA commissioner following the 2014 season. He has been the commissioner for the past 30 years. He will be replaced by deputy commissioner, Adam Silver.

Stern will officially step down on February 1st of 2014. This gives Silver 15 months to learn how to run the league.

Stern leaving the NBA is a bit of a bitter sweet moment for NBA fans. Sweet because NBA fans LOVE to hate Stern. Bitter because now they have to put effort into finding reasons to hate the new commissioner.
