Two Bombs Hit Military HQ in Syrian Capital, Damascus

Two roadside bombs exploded near the army and air force command headquarters in Syria’s capital, Damascus, on Wednesday morning reports the Guardian.

The information minister Omran Zoubi said one of the bombs might have been placed inside the grounds of the army headquarters and that there had been only material damage. The blasts shattered the windows of nearby buildings and thick smoke covered the capital as ambulances rushed to the scene. Although no one was hurt in the boming, Iranian Press TV said one of its correspondents, 33-year-old Maya Nasser died in a shooting following the explosions.

Syria’s capital has had a number of bombings in the past few months as an uprising against Bashar al-Assad’s regime grows larger.
