There was once a time when MTV wasn't all pregnant 16-yr-olds and spray tanned human waste. That's right, young America, your precious peddlers of Teen Wolf and Snooki & JWOWW used to have some creative juice in their system and put out some groundbreaking animation back in the day. Yea, yea, they brought Beavis and Butt-head back, but those guys aren't new, just a cruel reminder of what MTV's animation used to be.
Back in the '90s, the network had a cool thing going with Liquid Television, a program dedicated to pushing new animators into the spotlight with the most out there, bizarre, and downright creepy animation around. The series was the launching pad for shows like Aeon Flux, The Head, Daria, and the previously mentioned Beavis and Butt-head.
Those days may be long gone, but this video for MTV by Kungen & Hertigen is a reminder of the animated creativity that MTV once to embraced. It's just a super cool piece of animation with some great music that works perfectly with the vibrant outer space setting. Just don't expect to start seeing this sorta thing on MTV anytime soon, so enjoy what once was and will probably never be again.
