So I've been loving the insane exploits of rap star DMX, truly one of the most damaged individuals to ever pick up a mic. The latest hotness from his world revolves around an MMA show in Birmingham, Alabama. No, X wasn't going to be an announcer or a commentator - he was actually going to step in the ring and fight actor Eric Martinez in a Celebrity MMA match. But as soon as it was announced, things started to go wrong - first the rapper demanded that the match be held under boxing rules (no kicking or grappling), and then the promoter dropped him from the show entirely for the most hilarious reason ever (under the jump).
According to the Wrestling Observer newsletter:
Rapper DMX, who was supposed to debut in MMA in a few weeks in Birmingham, and then had the match changed from MMA to boxing, signed for the match, and then his manager sent the promoters an addendum to the contract stating that all parties involved agree that DMX is going to win the fight. The promoters refused to sign it and are looking for a replacement. The promoters are talking about a lawsuit against him for breach of contract.
That is absolutely precious to me in every way. The show is still headlined by Butterbean vs. Tank Abbott, so it has mighty trainwreck potential even without DMX.
