You know, I have much love for the original Star Wars trilogy - they really set the bar for what we expect in a sci-fi action movie, and even though they look a little cheesy and dated now, they still kick ass on the prequels in just about every way. But the franchise has been enjoying nothing but diminishing returns since, with a vast array of tie-ins, some good, some bad. Many thought that the death knell rand with the release of Death Troopers, the "zombies-in-space" novel we wrote about a little bit back. So this tidbit of gossip from an unlikely source doesn't get me too psyched, but here it is anyways. On the blog of musician Thomas Dolby, he mentions a visit to LucasArts, where:
My host is friend and former collaborator Paul Sebastien, who over the years has worked for Xbox, Playstation, and now LucasArts. Last night he was telling me a little about the forthcoming Star Wars-related TV show, movie and online games—very cool indeed.
Forthcoming... movie? Oh boy. This could, of course, just be a mishearing on Dolby's part, as there hasn't been any buzz about a new Star Wars flick in some time, but it's worth reporting if it is true, especially if Lucas is re-thinking his plan to make a third trilogy taking place after Luke's adventures, as was originally the idea. We'll keep following this as it develops. Courtesy AICN.
