Revenge is a dish best served with a hearty side of funny, and Conan O’Brien Can’t Stop ended up being a perfect vessel through which the former talk show host could rant and rave throughout the U.S. and Canada about the jackasses at NBC that more or less just told him to take a hike — and a pretty hilarious stand-up comedy film in and of itself, regardless of the particular circumstances that led to its existence. If nothing else, this sly and sometimes even moving documentary serves as a reminder that O’Brien is a formidable talent, no matter what the venue or the audience may be, and certainly capable of a lot more than the behind-a-desk limitations of his gig as the host of The Tonight Show (so there!). Can’t Stop is a prime example of how to make lemonade out of lemons, even if the sting of the situation isn’t quite as prominent as it was earlier this year — Conan’s particular put-upon style of comedy, though, is timeless, and will live on no matter how many hosts The Tonight Show goes through before pulling the plug completely. The hell with ’em, Conan — don’t ever Stop doing your thing.
