Matt Damon Shows His Fracking Side in ‘Promised Land’

Life is moving on from Bourne for Matt Damon. His latest film, Promised Land (2012), is about a single, 40 something salesman at a global company, who returns to his Kentucky hometown in hopes of acquiring land from families in exchange for natural gas. It looks to be a cross between Erin Brokovich (2000) and Michael Clayton (2007) with its shaky camera closeup and dark documentary grit, outlining confrontation and personal omission with the controversial “fracking” drilling process.

The film, directed by Gus Van Sant, also stars John Krasinski stubborn townie opposed to the impending sale, and Frances McDormand as Damon’s cohort. Rosemary DeWitt costars as the resident hottie who steals Damon’s heart. Oh boy. Another, predictable alpha male film is on the horizon. It is scheduled for a December 28th release.
