Jacoby vs. Camozzi Official For UFC On FOX 2

Camozzi, Jacoby meet at “UFC on FOX 2”

A middleweight tilt between Chris Camozzi and Dustin Jacoby is official for “UFC on FOX 2.”

UFC officials confirmed the news earlier today.

Camozzi, a veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter,” had a promising start to his career under the Zuffa banner, defeating Dongi Yang at UFC 121 in his debut. But a loss to Kyle Noke at UFC 127 led the UFC to send him packing, looking for him to pick up a quick win. He did so, defeating fellow “Ultimate Fighter” vet Jesse Taylor in the Shark Fights promotion.

Unfortunately, his return to the top promotion at UFC 137 did not go as planned, as Camozzi dropped a unanimous decision to Francis Carmont, leaving him now in what is most likely a must-win situation.

Like his upcoming opponent, Jacoby also walked away from UFC 137 without a win. His debut with the promotion ended in a unanimous decision loss to Clifford Starks. The loss was the first of his career. As a matter of fact, it was the first time he had gone to the judges’ scorecards, having won his six previous fights all via stoppage.

“UFC on FOX 2” is set for January 28 at the United Center in Chicago, Illinois. Quickly becoming somewhat of a super-card, regardless of the fact that it will lack a title fight, unlike the first “UFC on FOX” event, this event features contender bouts between light heavyweights Rashad Evans and Phil Davis and middleweights Chael Sonnen and Mark Munoz.
