Clay Guida, Ben Henderson Agree To Nov. 12 Bout

Two top lightweights battle it out for a title shot

Verbal agreements are in place for a much-anticipated lightweight contender bout between Clay Guida and former WEC lightweight champion Ben Henderson.

The bout takes place on the main card of the first UFC on Fox show on Nov. 12, but will not be televised unless the main event between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos ends early.

Yahoo’s Kevin Iole first revealed the news on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon.

The fight should come as no surprise. Guida and Henderson are considered two of the top lightweight contenders in the UFC and have been on a collision course this summer. The winner will receive a shot at the winner of the UFC 136 title fight between Frankie Edgar and Gray Maynard.

Henderson vaulted up the rankings with a dominant win over former top contender Jim Miller at UFC 133. Henderson controlled every facet of the bout on the way to a strong unanimous decision that instantly placed him into title contention.

Guida defeated former WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis earlier this year.
