“UFC on Versus 5” draws nearly 7,000 attendees

Sunday evening’s “UFC on Versus 5” drew 6,751 fans for a live gate of $539,000.

Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s Bradley Center played host to the event, marking the first time the promotion has held an event in the state. The Versus network broadcast the main card live, while all of the preliminary card was streamed on Facebook.com.

The event featured a headliner between welterweights Dan Hardy and Chris Lytle in what was the latter’s final professional bout as a mixed martial artist. Lytle earned the submission victory after a takedown attempt by Hardy late in the third gave the veteran an opportunity to latch on a guillotine choke.

Also on the card, former WEC lightweight champion Ben Henderson earned a dominant unanimous decision win over contender Jim Miller, likely putting him next in line for a title shot. Henderson’s performance was arguably the best of his career and allowed him to handle Miller unlike anyone before him, including top contender Gray Maynard and champion Frankie Edgar.
