Thiago vs. Hendricks slotted for the UFC’s next Versus show
A welterweight bout between Johny Hendricks and Paulo Thiago is currently in the making for UFC on Versus 3, which is set for March in Kentucky.
MMAjunkie.com reported the match up after learning of the news from sources close to the event.
Thiago, who was once considered one of the most promising prospects in the division, has struggled as of late, losing consecutive contests to Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez, respectively. Prior to the losing streak, Thiago defeated Mike Swick by technical submission and Jacob Volkmann by unanimous decision.
Hendricks, meanwhile, is looking to get back on the winning track as well after a disappointing decision loss to Rick Story at “The Ultimate Fighter 12 Finale” this past December. The loss, which was the first of his career, cut Hendricks’ four-fight winning streak with the promotion short, along with taking away his undefeated status.
UFC on Versus 3 is official for Louisville, Kentucky’s KFC Yum! Center on March 3 and features a main event between Martin Kampmann and Diego Sanchez. The main card will be broadcast live and free on Versus.
