Two more bouts added to UFC 129

A middleweight bout between John Makdessi and Kyle Watson has been added to UFC 129, as has a bantamweight tilt between Charlie Valencia and Ivan Menjivar.

The two fights were announced earlier on Thursday by the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

Valencia, whose WEC career ended with a disappointing loss to former 135 lb. champion Miguel Torres, looks to get back on the winning track against a man with nearly 30 fights under his belt. That man, Menjivar, took a lengthy break from the sport after his split-decision loss to Bart Palaszewski in 2006, returning with a victory over Aaron Miller in 2010. However, he then lost his next fight to Brad Pickett at WEC 53 last December.

In the other bout, Watson, a member of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team GSP vs. Team Koscheck“, steps into the Octagon for the second time under the UFC banner after picking up a win in his debut against Sako Chivitchian. Likewise, Makdessi was able to secure a victory in his UFC debut, defeating Pat Audinwood at UFC 124 this past November.

UFC 129, which is set for Toronto, Ontario, Canada on April 30, is set to feature a main event between welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and top contender Jake Shields, while featherweight champion Jose Aldo will also defend his belt, though an opponent has yet to be named. However, Mark Hominick is the clear front-runner to take on the dominant champion.
