St. Pierre vs. Koscheck Official For UFC 124

It’s official.

This December, UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre will be facing off against top contender Josh Koscheck at Montreal, Quebec, Canada’s Bell Centre.

The news was reported on the “Ultimate Insider” earlier this week.

St. Pierre last defended his title at UFC 111 against the clearly over-matched Dan Hardy, earning a unanimous decision win in which he was never confronted with any trouble. Prior to that title defense, he defended his belt at the highly successful UFC 100 opposite the top contender at the time, Thiago Alves.

Meanwhile, Koscheck has battled back from a disappointing knockout to Paulo Thiago all the way to a title shot with three consecutive victories. During the winning streak, Koscheck defeated Frank Trigg via technical knockout, Anthony Johnson via submission, and, most recently, Paul Daley via unanimous decision.

The victory over Daley, however, held a rather significant value. Aside from the title shot he earned, Koscheck also took a post-fight cheap shot from Daley, followed by a speech that insulted the Montreal Canadians in front of the Canadian crowd.

The bout is set for UFC 124 on December 11, and the championship tilt will be the main event of the evening. Also on the card, it has been rumored that Thiago Alves will fight John Howard. No other bouts have been confirmed for the December event.
