“Countdown To UFC 117″ Airs August 2 On Spike TV

Just in case you have either missed Chael Sonnen’s pre-fight trash talk, or simply want to hear some more of it, “Countdown to UFC 117” is set to debut on Spike TV Monday, August 2 at 11 p.m. ET. Replays will air on August 3, 4, and 5 on MTV Tr3s, Spike TV, and Versus, respectively.

The show will feature the preview of the middleweight championship bout between title holder Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen, who are set to meet in the main event of UFC 117 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California on August 7.

In what would have otherwise been viewed as a rather unappealing title fight, Sonnen has taken it upon himself to hype this fight. The Team Quest fighter has held nothing back in terms of pre-fight trash talk and the “Countdown” show will likely feature more of the middleweight’s material heading into UFC 117.

Alongside the main event, the card features a long-overdue welterweight rematch between former top contenders Thiago Alves and Jon Fitch, alongside a heavyweight bout with potential title implications between fast-rising Junior dos Santos and “Ultimate Fighter Season 10” winner Roy “Big Country” Nelson. Rounding out the card is a welterweight bout between Ricardo Almeida and Matt Hughes, along with a lightweight affair between Clay Guida and Rafael dos Anjos.
