UFC Fight Night 22 Scheduled For Sept. 15

“UFC Fight Night 22” is tentatively scheduled for Sept. 15, and will serve as the lead-in for the premiere episode of “The Ultimate Fighter 12.”

MMAWeekly.com first reported the news on Monday afternoon. No location for the event has been determined, but MMA Junkie reported that an East Coast market is being targeted as the likely host.

A lightweight bout between Jim Miller and Gleison Tibau is tentatively scheduled to take place on the televised card. Miller is nearing contention for the lightweight title, having won 12 of his past 13 bouts, and his only career losses came at the hands of current UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and contender Gray Maynard.

Tibau is inching ever closer to title contention as well. The American Top Team product has won four of his previous five fights.

“The Ultimate Fighter 12” will feature two teams of lightweights coached by welterweight rivals Georges St. Pierre and Josh Koscheck. The two coaches will meet for St. Pierre’s welterweight title after the conclusion of the show, likely in December. Koscheck earned the title shot — and the coaching gig opposite St. Pierre — with his defeat of Paul Daley at UFC 113.
