Edgar, Penn Agree To UFC 118 Rematch

The UFC 118 lightweight title rematch between Frankie Edgar and B.J. Penn is a done deal. Heavy.com has confirmed with sources close to the event that Edgar and Penn have both signed their bout agreements for the August fight.

Edgar won the razor close first fight in April, a bout which served as the co-main event of the UFC’s first-ever trip to Abu Dhabi. The New Jersey native was awarded the unanimous decision after using his speed and relentless pace to keep Penn off guard and unable to catch up.

Because of the close nature of the first fight, UFC President Dana White announced a rematch almost immediately.

UFC 118 will be the UFC’s first trip to Boston since the legalization of mixed martial arts. A heavyweight bout between boxing legend James Toney and UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture is expected to serve as the co-main event.
