UFC Confirms Three Prelim Bouts for “UFC on Versus 1″

The UFC today confirmed three more matchups for “UFC on Versus 1.”

Chase Gormley vs. Brendan Schaub, James Irvin vs. Alessio Sakara and Eric Schafer vs. Jason Brilz were all added to the preliminary card for the UFC’s debut on Versus.

Schaub made his official UFC debut at the Ultimate Fighter Finale in December, losing to show winner Roy Nelson by way of first round knockout. He’ll face Chase Gormley, who also lost his UFC debut to Stefan Struve at UFC 104 in October.

Irvin has not appeared in the Octagon since a dominating loss to Anderson Silva in July 2008. Irvin was suspended for nine months following the loss after testing positive for both methadone and oxymorphone.

“UFC on Versus 1” is headlined by a light heavyweight bout between Brandon Vera and top prospect Jon Jones. The co-main event for the evening is a much-anticipated heavyweight slugfest between Gabriel Gonzaga and Junior dos Santos. The show takes place March 21 in Broomfield, Colorado.
