Gina Carano Refused Medical Clearance, Out Of Dallas Fight

Popular women’s star has return date delayed

Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker today announced that Gina Carano‘s medical license was revoked by her doctor and, as a result, the popular female fighter has been forced to pull out of her scheduled June 18 return fight with Sarah D’Alelio.

Coker had no further information regarding the details of Carano’s medical issues. A scheduled lightweight prelim bout between K.J. Noons and Jorge Masvidal has been bumped up to the main card to take the place of the canceled women’s bout.

“I’m disappointed not to be fighting June 18. I’d like to thank Greg Jackson, and I hope this is just a brief setback,” Carano said in a prepared statement.

Carano has been out of action since an August 2009 loss to Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos. She filmed a starring role in the new film “Haywire” by Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh.
