Elbows On The Ground Now Legal In Strikeforce

Strikeforce to use the unified rules.

The first change to Strikeforce following the purchase by Zuffa is the use of the unified rules of mixed marital arts. In a nutshell, elbows to the head on the ground are now legal in Strikeforce.

“The one change that we’re going to implement as promoters of this show is going to be the unified rules that we use in the UFC,” said UFC Chairman and CEO Lorenzo Fertitta.

Strikeforce fights will continue to take place inside the hexagon cage instead of the famed UFC Octagon.

“We will continue to use the hexagon that is currently there, “ said Fertitta on a conference call Monday.

The rule change will be effective from this point forward.
