Mousasi Signs Two Year Extension With Strikeforce

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Strikeforce light heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi signed a two-year contract extension on Thursday night. The deal calls for a minimum of four fights and is effective immediately.

Saturday’s fight with King Mo was slated to be the last on his current contract, but Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker had indicated in recent weeks that Mousasi would be with the promotion for the long haul.

Mousasi’s bout with King Mo will be his second Strikeforce light heavyweight title defense. He won the belt with a stunning one-minute TKO victory over Renato Sobral last August, then defended the belt against Sokodjou on the first-ever “Strikeforce on CBS” event in November.
