Fitch vs. Silva likely for October
A welterweight bout between former top contender Jon Fitch and rising contender Erick Silva is likely for UFC 153 in Brazil.
Silva’s manager went to Twitter to deliver the news.
UFC 153 takes place on October 13 in Rio de Janeiro, featuring a featherweight title fight between champion Jose Aldo and top contender Erik Koch.
Silva last competed at “UFC on FX 3,” earning a submission victory against Charlie Brenneman. Prior to the victory, he lost via disqualification at UFC 142 to Carlo PRater due to what the referee deemed illegal strikes.
Meanwhile, Fitch is coming off a disappointing loss to Johny Hendricks in late 2011. The former title challenger was knocked out in only 12 seconds and has not won in two years.
