Alvarez vs. Freire official for October
A lightweight bout between contenders Eddie Alvarez and Patricky Freire is official for Bellator 76.
The promotion’s CEO Bjorn Rebney announced the fight via Twitter this week.
Bellator 76 takes place on October 12 in Ontario, Canada.
Alvarez, the former 155 lb. champion of the promotion, last competed at Bellator 66, defeating Shinya Aoki via technical knockout. The fight was his first since losing his belt to Michael Chandler last year.
Now, he finds himself in potentially his final contest under the Bellator banner, as this is his last fight on his current contract. The promotion does maintain the right to match any offer.
Meanwhile, Freire is coming off losses in two of his past three contests, including his loss to the aforementioned Chandler.
