TUF: Live Finale draws 1,628 for $195K

The Ultimate Fighter: Live Finale” drew 1,628 in attendance on June 1 in Las Vegas for a live gate of $195,000.

MMAjunkie.com confirmed the numbers, though they are the same as the originally reported figures, announced by the Ultimate Fighting Championship just following the event.

The event featured a welterweight showdown between contenders Martin Kampmann and Jake Ellenberger. After a strong start in the first round, Ellenberger would lose via technical knockout in the second round, setting Kampmann up for a bout against Johny Hendricks at UFC 152.

Also on the card, Mike Chiesa capped off an inspirational run through the tournament, defeating Al Iaquinta to earn the title of “The Ultimate Fighter,” a six-figure contract, and a new Harley-Davidson motorcycle.

The latest season of the reality series utilized an intriguing live format, meaning all tournament fights were broadcast live on FX on Friday nights. However, as reported yesterday, that format will no longer be used.
