St. Pierre-Condit, Kampmann-Hendricks expected for Montreal

A pair of welterweight match ups are on tap for UFC 154, and they are big.

Welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre and interim champ Carlos Condit are expected to meet in the evening’s main event, while Johny Hendricks and Martin Kampmann are expected to meet, possibly in the co-main event.

Dana White made the announcement following “UFC on FX 3” Friday night.

St. Pierre, who has been out of action for some time due to injury, last fought at UFC 129 against Jake Shields, meaning his last win came over one year ago. During his absence, Condit faced off against Nick Diaz for an interim welterweight title, earning the nod from the judges in the main event of UFC 143.

Meanwhile, in the other anticipated welterweight contest for UFC 154, according to MMAjunkie.com, it has been book as a backup plan. In case St. Pierre is unable to return from his ACL injury at the November event, either Hendricks or Condit could step in against Condit for an interim title bout.

UFC 154 is set for Montreal, Quebec, Canada’s Bell Centre. The two welterweight contests, though not yet official, are the only two rumored contests thus far for the November 17 event.
