UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller Weigh-in Results

Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks (Josh Hedges/UFC)

Only flyweight Lineker fails to make weight for Saturday card

The fighters are off the scale, and the UFC’s third event on the Fox network is 24 hours away. All but one fighter successfully made weight on Friday for their Saturday fights in New Jersey.

UFC on Fox: Diaz vs. Miller takes place at the Izod Center in east Rutherford, N.J. The four-fight main card airs live on the Fox network starting at 8 p.m. Eastern on Saturday. Six fights on the preliminary card air on the Fuel TV cable network at 5 p.m. And a pair of prelims stream live at the UFC’s Facebook page at 4 p.m.

Main event lightweights Nate Diaz and Jim Miller each hit their marks. Miller, a New Jersey native fighting about 30 minutes from his home gym in his home state, weighed in 156 pounds. Diaz also came in at 156. UFC president Dana White said earlier this week Diaz might be next in line for a title shot with a win, though Miller might have to win one or two more fights.

Miller told event emcee Joe Rogan he’s glad to be fighting in front of his home crowd. He’s better than a 2-to-1 favorite against Diaz, the Season 5 winner of “The Ultimate Fighter.”

“It’s really exciting. I want to thank the fans of the UFC and the fans of New Jersey,” Miller said. “This is a huge fight. You’ve got two of the baddest men on the planet getting locked inside a cage. Wherever this fight goes, however it goes, you guys are in for a treat tomorrow night.”

Co-main event welterweights Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks also hit their targets, though Hendricks had to strip down to make the limit. Hendricks, accompanied by famed nutritionist Mike Dolce of “The Dolce Diet” fame, was 171.5 pounds on his first attempt. But after removing his shorts, he came in at 170.5. Koscheck also was 170.5. Like the main event, Hendricks might be close to a title shot with a win, but White said Koscheck might need a win or two more.

In heavyweight action that opens the main card on Fox, Lavar Johnson weighed in at 253 pounds for his fight against kickboxing specialist Pat Barry, who was 244. And middleweights Rousimar Palhares and Alan Belcher each were 186 pounds for their main-card bout.

Only UFC newcomer John Lineker failed to make weight. The flyweight came in at 127 pounds for his fight against Louis Gaudinot, a Season 14 veteran of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Gaudinot weighed in at 126 pounds; Lineker was given two hours to cut the additional one pound to make the flyweight limit.
