Four fighters pick up $70,000 bonuses in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS – On a card that featured nine stoppages in 12 fights, four fighters are $70,000 richer after UFC 146 on Saturday.

Roy Nelson, Dan Hardy, Stefan Struve and Paul Sass each won $70,000 for their performances at the event in Las Vegas. Nelson and Hardy picked up Knockout of the Night awards, and Struve and Sass won Submission of the Night bonuses. There was no Fight of the Night bonus given out. UFC president Dana White announced the bonus winners and amounts at the post-fight news conference.

UFC 146 was the first all-heavyweight main card in UFC history. The main event at MGM Grand Garden Arena was a successful heavyweight title defense by Junior dos Santos against former two-time champion Frank Mir.

Nelson knocked out Dave Herman just 51 seconds into their fight on the main card, dropping the taller, lankier fighter with one punch, then finishing him on the ground with one more. Hardy snapped a four-fight losing streak in impressive fashion, stopping Duane Ludwig with a first-round knockout on the preliminary card.

Struve fought Lavar Johnson just three weeks after Johnson picked up his second straight Knockout of the Night award and submitted him with an armbar just 51 seconds into the first fight on the pay-per-view. And Sass remained unbeaten when he tapped Jacob Volkmann with an armbar-triangle less than two minutes into their fight on the preliminary card.
