Light heavyweights set to clash in San Jose

A light heavyweight bout between a pair of fighters seeking their first UFC victories has been set for this summer.

According to a report at The Score, Nick Penner and Tom DeBlass have agreed to fight at UFC on Fuel TV 4 in July.

UFC on Fuel TV 4 is scheduled for July 11 and will take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. – though the venue has not officially been announced by the UFC. UFC on Fuel TV 4 is expected to be headlined by a middleweight contenders bout between Mark Munoz and Chris Weidman. James Te Huna and Brandon Vera also are expected to fight on the card.

Penner (11-2, 0-1 UFC) debuted with the UFC in March at UFC on FX: Alves vs. Kampmann in Australia. But he was stopped by Anthony Perosh with just one second left in the first round. That loss snapped an eight-fight winning streak that included six stoppages. Prior to that fight, the Canadian had fought exclusively in his home country.

DeBlass (7-1, 0-1 UFC) dropped a majority decision to Cyrille Diabate last month at UFC on Fuel TV in Sweden. That bout was a short-notice fight he took after signing with the UFC as the Ring Of Combat light heavyweight and heavyweight champion. The New Jersey-based fighter spent the first seven fights of his career exclusively in that promotion, beating the likes of UFC veteran Sean Salmon along the way. DeBlass owns Ocean County Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, where he coaches and trains under Ricardo Almeida.
