UFC 129 Title Shot A Dream Come True For Mark Hominick

Mark Hominick has been thinking about becoming a world champion since he began training fifteen years ago, and his UFC 129 featherweight title fight with Jose Aldo is a dream come true.

“This is a dream I’ve been thinking about since I’ve been thirteen years old,” said Hominick during a special press conference in Toronto on Tuesday.

“This is my passion, this sport. Since I’ve been thirteen years old every morning I’ve woken up I’ve been thinking about training, the sport, about getting better. Every night I went to bed thinking the same thoughts. This is a combination of ten years as a pro, and I’m ready to do it on April 30th,” added the Canadian.

Hominick earned the shot against champion Aldo with his UFC Fight Night 23: Fight for the Troops 2” technical knockout win over George Roop on Jan. 22.

UFC 129 takes place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto not far from Hominick’s hometown of Thamesford, Ontario. Fighting close to home has its benefits and drawbacks.

“This is a dream come true, but I’m starting to realize I have a lot of third cousins, a lot of old friends I went to kindergarten with who I haven’t talked to since kindergarten wanting front row tickets,” joked the challenger.

“This is a great opportunity to be showcased in the co-main event. Like I said, this is a dream come true, and I’m ready to do it.”
