Muñoz Inducted to California State Wrestling Hall of Fame

Sacramento, CA – UFC middleweight, Mark “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” Muñoz (8-1, 3-1 UFC) was inducted into the California State Wrestling Hall of Fame Saturday evening.

Muñoz won the NCAA Div. I National Championship in 2001 at Oklahoma State. Additionally, he was a 2 time NCAA All-American; 2 time NWCA Academic All-American; 2 time Big 12 Conference Champion; Junior World Silver Medalist; 3 time Junior World Team Member; Junior National Runner-Up; High School National Champion; and 2 time California CIF State Champion.

Muñoz joined 6 other inductees and 11 Lifetime Service Award recipients at the black-tie Banquet in Sacramento. Several hundred attended the event. Muñoz was joined by his wife, parents, sister, high school wrestling coaches, managers, and Urijah Faber (who earlier in the day was inducted into the UC Davis Wrestling Hall of Fame).

During his acceptance speech, Muñoz stated that he was “humbled and honored” to be inducted to the Hall of Fame.
