Zuffa Goes After More Web Pirates

Thinking of opening up a quick web site to cash in on the popularity of upcoming UFC pay per view events?

You might want to reconsider.

Zuffa LLC, the owner of the UFC and sibling organization World Extreme Cagefighting, has sued the owners of two websites looking to cash in on the hype surrounding the upcoming UFC 111 pay per view event.

Zuffa sued the two creators, one based in the United Kingdom and the other in Jacksonville, Fla., with promoting free access to the upcoming pay per view event. The lawsuit claims that the names were registered in bad faith with intent to profit from the UFC’s trademarks. The suit also alleges that the site owners have engaged in cybersquatting, where someone registers a trademarked domain name in an attempt to sell it to the trademark owner.

The UFC is seeking a quick court order that will force the site owners to transfer ownership of the domain names back to Zuffa.
