Rockhold Defends Strikeforce Title Against Larkin This November

Luke Rockhold

Larkin challenges Rockhold this Nov.

A middleweight title fight between Luke Rockhold and Lorenz Larkin takes place at Strikeforce’s November 3 show in Oklahoma City.

MMAWeekly.com reported the match up on Tuesday.

The match up comes as at least somewhat of a surprise, as all indications pointed to a rematch between Rockhold and former champion Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza. Souza finished Derek Brunson in the opening minute of the opening round of their “Strikeforce: Rousey vs. Kaufman” fight.

However, Larkin will fight for the title instead of the Brazilian after earning a unanimous decision over Robbie Lawler in July.

Meanwhile, Rockhold has defended his belt twice since earning the strap with a decision win over Souza. His first defense came against Keith Jardine, while his second title defense came against two-time top contender Tim Kennedy.

“Strikeforce: Cormier vs. Mir” takes place on November 3 at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.
