Struve, Miocic clash in Nottingham

A heavyweight contest between Stefan Struve and Stipe Miocic is official as the main event of the upcoming “UFC on FUEL TV 5.”

ESPN’s Gareth Davies confirmed the news on Friday.

Both heavyweights are coming off big wins at the heavyweight-packed UFC 146. Struve defeated Lavar Johnson via submission on the card, while Miocic defeated Shane Del Rosario via technical knockout.

Prior to the victory, Miocic defeated Phil De Fries and Joey Beltran in his first two UFC contests. With nine fights under his belt, the 29-year-old remains undefeated as a professional, only going to the judges’ scorecards once in his career.

Meanwhile, Struve has also found success recently, defeating Dave Herman and Pat Barry prior to his UFC 146 submission win. The three-fight winning streak began after a disappointing UFC 130 knockout loss to Travis Browne.

“UFC on FUEL TV 5” is official for Nottingham, England on September 29. The heavyweight contest will headline the event, which will broadcast live on FUEL TV.
