Davis vs. Assuncao Official For WEC 52

A featherweight bout between L.C. Davis and Raphael Assuncao is set for WEC 52 this November.

The promotion announced the match up earlier today.

Assuncao enters the bout coming off back-to-back losses. The first came to Urijah Faber at WEC 46, while the second and most recent defeat came to Diego Nunes at WEC 49. The losses followed a six-fight winning streak that had led Assuncao to the upper tier of competition. However, at this point, the Brazilian is forced to rebuild and work his way back up.

Davis, meanwhile, was also rising fast in the featherweight division before being derailed recently by the top prospect Josh Grispi at WEC 50. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak that had Davis on the doorstep of a title shot. Unfortunately for him, like Assuncao, he now must restart on his run to a title.

The bout will fall one slot short of the main card broadcast, serving as the last bout on the preliminary card of WEC 52. The event is set for November 11 at the Pearl at the Palms Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and features a main event between former featherweight champion and WEC superstar Urijah Faber and former bantamweight top contender Takeya Mizugaki. Also on the card, featherweights Josh Grispi and Erik Koch look to rise up the featherweight ladder, while Chad Mendes and Javier Vazquez do the same.
