On Saturday, May 22, "Fight for Wrestling" will take place at the Mott Gym at Cal Poly, who will host the event. The function is set to support and benefit the acclaimed Cal Poly Wrestling program, which has produced many great wrestlers throughout the years.
The doors open at 5:00 p.m. PT and the event begins just one half hour later. The card will include female mixed martial artists Casey Noland, out of Atascadero, take on Jenny Trujillo of San Jose. The card will also include Mike Gahan of Cal Poly who is making his professional debut, as well as Johnny Hackleman Jr.
Cal Poly has produced 110 All-American wrestlers that have turned to a career in mixed martial arts. Among them is the former UFC light heavyweight champion of the world Chuck Liddell, WEC bantamweight contender Antonio Banuelos, and WEC top prospect Chad Mendes.
Tickets for the event are already on sale at $35 for general admission, while reserved bleachers, chairback, and floor seating is a bit pricier at $55. VIP chairback seating will only run you $75. Cal Poly students with a valid student ID get a large discount with the price coming in at $25. All of the proceeds will directly benefit the wrestling program at Cal Poly.
