Gonna take you for a ride! In fantastic news for every fighting game fan, Capcom has the Marvel Comics license back and is ready to use it. At the company's annual Captivate press event in Honolulu this weekend, they made several announcements, but the most notable remained unsaid. Marvel employee Ryan Penagios was at the event, showing off something he couldn't talk about. The game is rumored to be produced in 720p with all new art - I sincerely doubt that with a roster as huge as the original, that the art will be sprite-based - instead, I'd predict a cel-shaded approach like in Capcom Vs. Tatsunoko to keep development time reasonable. Early predictions have the game playable at E3 and released on the Xbox 360 by the end of the year. It's far too early to predict what new characters will be added, but I'm going to do it anyways so I can say "I told you so." From the Marvel side, expect to see Deadpool, X-23 and Red Hulk. From the Capcom side, I'd say Sheeva from Resident Evil 5, the protagonist from Bionic Commando, and, if there's any justice in the world, Gene from God Hand. Allegedly the embargo lifts at the end of the week, so expect to see a pile of information on this site when that happens. Planet Xbox 360 has more news from Captivate.
