1. He Once Appeared on Star Search
Many of today’s music artists appeared on the legendary competition show Star Search as children – Alanis Morissette, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, and Justin Timberlake. Josh Kaufman can be added to that list. Check out this old clip we found of him from Star Search.
2. Usher Is Kaufman’s Mentor on The Voice
Kaufman blew the judges away with his audition on the show, but Usher Raymond was the last to turn around his chair when listening to Kaufman sing “One More Try” by George Michael. This is a bit interesting since Usher ended up being his coach after stealing him in the second battle round after mentor Adam Levine picked Delvin Choice over him. 3. He’s a Big Family Man

How adorable is the above photo of what Josh Kaufman’s daughter made him for Easter? Kaufman is all about his family and his very reason for being on The Voice is to make a better life for them. His cast bio reads:
Josh has been singing on-and-off his entire life. He supports his wife and three kids by playing local gigs and working as an SAT prep tutor. Josh is hoping The Voice will allow him to stop tutoring and be a full-time musician to support his family.
Indy Star writes: Kaufman, husband to Jennifer Myer and father of children ages 6, 4 and 2, said he realizes the “huge break” that would come with winning The Voice.

When Kaufman’s not appearing on The Voice or being a husband and father, he can be seen as the front-man for the band The New Etiquette. The band is very supportive of Kaufman’s joining the show and Kaufman has remained very humble during the experience. In a phone interview with Indy Star, Kaufman stated:
It’s really crazy. I have to think, ‘Wait a minute, I was just playing the Chatterbox and the sandwich shop. I’m still doing the same music, but now all of a sudden I’m singing for Aloe Blacc and Adam Levine — getting tips and compliments.
