‘Dancing With the Stars’ 4/7/14: Top 10 Live Highlights & Recap

Tonight is a big night on Dancing With the Stars. Not only is Julianne Hough returning as a guest judge, each of the contestants is paired with a new dancer for the week. Check out the best show moments, performance videos and more for a full recap of the night in our Top 10 Highlights.

Let the craziness begin!

1. The New Pairings Are Revealed

The opening number killed it as each contestant joined the professionals on the floor, but the audience was in anticipation of who would be paired with who tonight on the “switch it up” episode. At the end of the opening routine, even the judges joined in, including guest judge Julianne Hough.

2. Julianne Hough Steps Up as Guest Judge

Last season, Julianne Hough appeared on the show and was honest and blunt, but, hey, sometimes we need tough love. On tonight’s show, when asked if she’d be the same tough Hough, she said she absolutely would. This made Julianne’s brother Derek look a little nervous.

3. Candace Cameron Bure and Tony Dovolani Were the First Pair on the Floor

Candace Cameron Bure was the guinea pig of the night, dancing the first routine with Tony Dovolani. Though she looked awesome in a rocker chic outfit, the judges wanted more body contact between the two and wanted better posture from Candace. Their score was a 28 out of 40 for the night.

4. Peta Murgatroyd and James Maslow Miss Each Other

James Maslow acts a little jealous that Charlie White gets to dance with his normal partner Peta Murgatroyd this week. The two share a little bit of banter back and forth via Skype and White reveals to Maslow that Murgatroyd can’t stop talking about him since he’s been off dancing with Cheryl Burke.

Burke and Maslow killed it with a 35 out of 40 and of course Maslow was grilled about a possible relationship with Murgatroyd. Maslow gave nothing away …

As far as Charlie White’s dance with Peta, they received mixed reviews from the judges. While Len and Carrie Ann harshly disliked the dance, Bruno and Julianne loved it. Len and Carrie Ann didn’t think that the routine should be classified as a rumba and because there was a lift in the dance, judge Carrie Ann was not happy. The scores were a 7, 8, 9, and 9. Murgatroyd was clearly upset by the judges’ comments.

5. Drew Carey Was Golden Tonight

Drew Carey’s suit wasn’t the only thing that was gold tonight. His routine with new partner Witney Carson completely suited him and he killed it. He even got a standing ovation from guest judge Julianne Hough. A 33 out of 40 was great to hear from the judges’ panel.
