1. Hoffman Died in His Apartment

The academy-award winning actor was found dead in his West Village apartment at 35 Bethune Street this morning, according to The Huffington Post.
2. His Body Was Reportedly Found By David Katz

Apparently, Hoffman’s body was found in the bathroom of his fourth floor apartment in the Pickwick House around 11:15 a.m. by screenwriter David Katz. Upon finding Hoffman, he then called 911.

Hoffman is survived by his costume designer wife and three children.
3. He Was Discovered With a Needle In His Arm
According to WSJ:
The New York Police Department is investigating, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is working to determine the exact cause of death.
Nonetheless, several sources, including TMZ, are reporting that the cause of death may be a drug overdose as Hoffman’s body was reportedly found with a needle in his arm. TMZ writes:
Details surrounding his death are unclear … but the actor had struggled with drug problems … most recently checking himself into a rehab facility for heroin back in May … Hoffman had been clean for 23 years but fell off the wagon in 2012.
