Happy Birthday Walt Disney: Childhood Home Turned Into Museum

On the 112th birthday of the legend Walt Disney, it’s announced that his childhood home in Chicago will be made into a museum. WGNtv.com reports that Walt Disney was actually born in the house on the second floor. Another interesting fact is that the house was actually built in 1893 by Disney’s father Elias. The news source writes:

There are big plans for the renovation of the house into a sort of museum. The new owners, Brent Young and Dina Benadon, will officially announce their plans Thursday to restore the house to the way it was when Walt Disney lived here as a boy.

Disney’s house in located on the corner of Tripp and Palmer on the Northwest Side of the city, should you wish to pass by. And, in honor of the late icon, Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared Thursday Walt Disney Day in Chicago.

Next Friday, the movie Saving Mr. Banks is released in theaters. The movie celebrates the life of Walt Disney and gives us an opportunity to further educate ourselves about the man who started it all.
