
After months of speculation, author E.L. James revealed on Twitter Monday afternoon that Charlie Hunnam and Dakota Johnson have been cast to play Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele in the film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Published in 2011, Fifty Shades of Grey is an erotic romance novel that follows the relationship between a clumsy, innocent college student and a billionaire businessman who has a secret affinity for kinky sex. The series quickly rose to the top of best-seller lists around the world and has sold more than 70 million copies worldwide. Since a film adaptation was announced, the two roles have been a longtime source of speculation on the Internet.
Cast as Christian Grey, Hunnam is best known for playing Jackson "Jax" Teller on Sons of Anarchy. Co-star Johnson, daughter of Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson, is best known for Fox's cancelled comedy Ben & Kate.
The movie is scheduled for release August 1, 2014.
