The shocking news came through on August 14 that 29-year-old star Gia Allemand has died, reports E! The reality TV idol captured and broke hearts during here stints on ABC reality smash-hits The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad. Her career in the public eye was turbulent, especially when suffered a very public break-up with former New York Yankee Carl Pavano.

1. She Attempted to Hang Herself

Previously her rep said she suffered 'a serious medical event.' US Magazine reports that Allemand was found by her boyfriend, Ryan Anderson, after attempting to take her own life through hanging. TMZ reports that she was depressed about her "rocky" relationship with Anderson.
Variety reported on the circumstances of her death:
As a result of critical loss of brain and organ function, Allemand was taken of life support.
The model was hospitalized at New Orleans' University Hospital with what her rep called "a serious medical event" on August 12. She was then put on life support.
While little was announced about Allemand's ailment, it was reported that her condition was not the cause of an "adverse reaction."

2. Her NBA Star Boyfriend Was By Her Side

She died with her boyfriend, New Orleans Pelican's star Ryan Anderson by her side. Allemand had previously dated New York Yankee's pitcher Carl Pavano.

The winner of The Bachelor season that Allemand featured on, Vienna Girardi told TMZ:
Gia was a beautiful girl and an unbelievable friend. I’m shocked and can’t believe what happened to her. She seemed so happy, but never know the demons people are fighting inside. I will never forget her and will miss my friend forever.
The religious Allemand last tweeted on August 11:

4. She Was a Former Professional Ballet Dancer
Prior to her television career, Allemand has been a professional dancer. Her career was brought to an end after when she: "injured her hamstring and Achilles tendon and couldn't dance anymore."

5. Allemand Made Her Name by Breaking (and Melting) Hearts on Reality TV
After being admitted to hospital Allemand's rep pleaded for the media to respect her privacy. She was referred to as a "heartbreaker" on the ABC reality show, Bachelor Pad. But rose to fame during her stint on Season 14 of the other ABC reality hit The Bachelor where she made it to the final, sometimes known as the Jake Pavelka season.
