20 Actors We’d Like To See in Upcoming Marvel Films

While <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dwayne_Johnson" target="_blank">the Rock</a> is currently shooting scenes in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brett_Ratner" target="_blank">Brett Ratner</a> directed <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1267297/" target="_blank">Hercules</a> </em>film as the titular character, the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hercules_(Marvel_Comics)" target="_blank">Marvel brand of the character</a> could easily make the crossover to the big screen. Shortlisted for the role of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drax_the_Destroyer" target="_blank">Drax the Destroyer</a> in the upcoming <em>Guardians of the Galaxy</em> film, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jason_Momoa" target="_blank">Jason Momoa</a> would be perfect portraying the gruff and powerful warrior, particularly in a crossover with <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Hemsworth" target="_blank">Chris Hemsworth’s</a> <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_(Marvel_Comics)" target="_blank">Thor</a>.

The <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Superior_Spider-Man" target="_blank">Superior Spider-Man</a> may eventually pup up in a separate line of films. <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0948470/" target="_blank">The Amazing Spider-Man</a></em> is already being prepped a trilogy, but comic book fans know another iteration of the hero comes right after <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spider-Man" target="_blank">Peter's </a>run. So who would make a great <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Octopus" target="_blank">Otto Octavious</a>, then? That would have to be English actor <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jim_Sturgess" target="_blank">Jim Sturgess</a>. His look is already there, the youth is evident to everyone. Throw that Spider-Man suit on him ASAP!

While it’s more likely that Marvel would go for the more established <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nova_(Richard_Rider)" target="_blank">Richard Rider</a> iteration of the character, a younger <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nova_(Sam_Alexander)" target="_blank">Sam Alexander</a> Nova could definitely differentiate him from some of the other Marvel Cinematic heroes. While we’ll have more concrete evidence of the Nova Corps role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe once <em>Guardians of the Galaxy</em> drops, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shawn_Pyfrom" target="_blank">Shawn Pyfrom</a> could definitely pull off either iteration of the character.

Dead for a number of years in continuity, the sassy, fashion-conscious <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wasp_(comics)" target="_blank">Wasp </a>recently made a return to <a href="http://www.heavy.com/tag/marvel-comics/" target="_blank">Marvel Comics</a> continuity, revealing she wasn't dead at all since <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thor_(Marvel_Comics)" target="_blank">Thor </a>smacked her silly with a hammer. Now that an Ant-Man film is happening, Wasp would be the perfect female lead, and there’s no better actress to play her than the beautiful and tough-as-nails <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michelle_Rodriguez" target="_blank">Michelle Rodriguez</a>.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doctor_Strange" target="_blank">Dr. Strange</a> will soon be an official member of Marvel Studio's movie franchise phases. This mythical, magical and always masterful superhero is a powerful being that needs a great actor to portray him. Here's a suggestion - <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joseph_Fiennes" target="_blank">Joseph Fiennes</a>. Remember the dude who played Shakespeare in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shakespeare_in_Love" target="_blank">Shakespeare in Love</a></em>? You're now looking at him. Joseph looks ready made to don the cape and dark facial hair that Dr. Strange is known to wear.

With the awkward caveat that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicksilver_(comics)" target="_blank">Quicksilver</a> and <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlet_Witch" target="_blank">Scarlet Witch</a> legally can and likely will be both in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Fox X-Men universe, it’s clear that the twins will show up in both companies franchise films. Best known for playing <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draco_Malfoy" target="_blank">Draco Malfoy</a> in the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harry_Potter_and_the_Half-Blood_Prince_(film)" target="_blank">Harry Potter films</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tom_Felton" target="_blank">Tom Felton</a> both has the looks, and can clearly pull of the arrogance needed to put a proper Quicksilver on screen, and we hope Marvel makes it happen.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jai_White" target="_blank">Michael Jai White</a> has already taken on one tough brawler in the web series <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mortal_Kombat:_Legacy" target="_blank">Mortal Kombat: Legacy</a></em> as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jax_Briggs" target="_blank">Major Jax Briggs</a>, and it’s time for this behemoth to take on another of the Marvel variety. White seems to epitomize the street savviness and world weariness of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luke_Cage" target="_blank">Luke Cage</a>, with a sense of optimism under that unbreakable skin of cynicism. Sweet Christmas! Make it happen, Marvel!

He did play a part in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Expendables_2" target="_blank">The Expendables 2</a></em>, which is an action-packed film full of melee glory. Scott would be the perfect pick to play Marvel resident kung-fu expert, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Fist_(comics)" target="_blank">Iron Fist</a>. Take off Scott's face fuzz, throw on that green getup and that yellow face mask, and BOOM...you've got your Iron Fist for the big screen.

An obscure character in his own right, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Machine_Man" target="_blank">Machine Man</a> is sort of Marvel’s answer to <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cyborg_(comics)" target="_blank">Cyborg</a>, although he is a <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_Kirby" target="_blank">Jack Kirby</a> 1970’s creation that predates Cyborg by several years. If ever Marvel got to the point where they felt like bringing out the fringes of their roster, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keanu_Reeves" target="_blank">Keanu Reeves</a> could easily tackle the role, as he already is basically half-man, half-machine.

Now that she will be ending her rage-induced portrayal of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Debra_Morgan" target="_blank">Debra Morgan</a> in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_(TV_series)" target="_blank">Dexter</a></em>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jennifer_Carpenter" target="_blank">Jennifer Carpterner’s</a> next role should hone the rage and alienation that she so well pulled of as Debra Morgan. A turn as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/She-Hulk" target="_blank">She-Hulk</a> would be the next logical step for the actress, as she has the look, the physique, and the attitude to play the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulk_(comics)" target="_blank">Green Goliath’s</a> muscle bound cousin.

Best known for his leading role in <em>District 9</em>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sharlto_Copley" target="_blank">Sharlto Copley</a> has a distinct flair for science fiction, which would be exactly what an <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant-Man" target="_blank">Ant Man</a> movie would need. Whether he plays <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Henry_Pym" target="_blank">Hank Pym</a> or <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ant-Man_(Scott_Lang)" target="_blank">Scott Lang</a> (we hope it’s Hank Pym), Copley has the look and flair for the dramatic, and more importantly, would be entirely believable as a mentally unstable scientific genius.

With his outstanding performance in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fruitvale_Station" target="_blank">Fruitvale Station</a></em>, as well as his great turn in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chronicle_(film)" target="_blank">Chronicle</a></em>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_B._Jordan" target="_blank">Michael B Jordan</a> (no relation to his <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_Jordan" target="_blank">more famous counterpart</a>), needs to be given a superhero role stat. And we've got the perfect role for him. Those who haven’t read the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_America_(set_index)" target="_blank">Captain America </a>limited series <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Truth:_Red,_White_%26_Black" target="_blank">Truth: Red, White & Black</a></em> may not be familiar with the character, but we can certainly see Jordan taking on a role as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patriot_(comics)" target="_blank">Patriot</a>, the grandson of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isaiah_Bradley" target="_blank">Isaiah Bradley</a>. A teenage hero, Jordan has the spunk and flair to take on the character and truly bring him to life on the silver screen.

With his critically acclaimed run as the titular Dexter Morgan on <em><a href="http://www.heavy.com/entertainment/2013/06/dexter-gifs-best-gallery/" target="_blank">Dexter</a></em> coming to an end, it’s time for <a href="http://www.heavy.com/tag/michael-c-hall/" target="_blank">Michael C. Hall</a> to bring a new brand of justice to the street, one that isn’t quite as murderous. Hall has the acting chops and looks to portray an older and grizzled <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daredevil_(Marvel_Comics)" target="_blank">Matt Murdock</a> in a <em>Daredevil </em>reboot, and we wouldn't mind seeing him play the part-time blind lawyer, full-time ass-kicker on the silver screen.

So the big rumor about <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vin_Diesel" target="_blank">Vin Diesel</a> is that he's had some contact with Marvel Studios. Could he be making an appearance soon as one of Marvel's long-running heroes? Most folks want to see him join <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avengers_(2012_film)" target="_blank">The Avengers</a> as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vision_(Marvel_Comics)" target="_blank">The Vision</a>. And you know what? That casting choice sounds pretty damn fitting! It's easy to picture Riddick...well, Vin Diesel with red face paint, yellow gloves and a lime green outfit. The deep, monotone voice is already there, so make it happen Marvel.

You can’t have <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quicksilver_(comics)" target="_blank">Quicksilver </a>without his equally (or possibly more) troubled sister, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scarlet_Witch" target="_blank">Scarlet Witch</a>, and we've got a great pick for someone to play the role. Mostly known for her work in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casino_Royale_(2006_film)" target="_blank">Casino Royale</a></em> as James Bond’s deceased lover (can you really spoil a movie that came out in 2006?) and her upcoming role as <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Artemisia_I_of_Caria" target="_blank">Artemisa </a>in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/300:_Rise_of_an_Empire" target="_blank">300: Rise of an Empire</a></em>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eva_Green" target="_blank">Eva Green</a> would be great portraying the haunting, brooding loneliness of the character.

Marvel's lone Sub-Mariner is an undersea badass. Technically, he's Marvel's first mutant, too. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Namor" target="_blank">Namor </a>is the definition of an anti-hero that fans love to hate and hate to love. Someone with the physical prowess and facial features of Namor needs to step onto the set of a Marvel film and play the part. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Witwer" target="_blank">Samuel Witwer</a> is that guy. He matches up pretty well with Namor's likenesses, so it only makes sense to throw him in a green speedo. Unleash him upon the mainstream Marvel movie fans who don't know the greatness of Namor.

While it's rumored that <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael_B._Jordan" target="_blank">Michael B. Jordan </a>may be playing the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Torch" target="_blank">Johnny Storm</a> iteration of the Human Torch in Fox's <em><a href="http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1502712/" target="_blank">Fantastic Four</a></em> reboot, it's possible that we will see the<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_Torch_(android)" target="_blank"> Original Android Human Torch</a> in action at some point in a Captain America film. And really, who better to play Jim Hammond than Russian actor <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anton_Yelchin" target="_blank">Anton Yelchin</a>. Besides, he already has expereince flying around space in <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_(film)" target="_blank">Star Trek</a></em>, so it would make sense.

Acclaimed British actor <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chiwetel_Ejiofor" target="_blank">Chiwetel Ejiofor</a>, who is slated to star in the upcoming <em><a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/12_Years_a_Slave_(film)" target="_blank">12 Years a Slave</a></em>, has the poise, dignity and pure ferocity to play <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Panther_(comics)" target="_blank">Black Panther</a> in an upcoming Marvel film. A classically trained actor, Ejiofor would certainty bring gravitas to the role, and could easily pull off being a master of the logical, scientific and martial arts while bringing a certain element of truth and authenticity to the role.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amadeus_Cho" target="_blank">Mr. Cho </a>is a young hero who's always played the background in comic books series starring The Avengers and Hercules. The kid is a genius who's capable of putting together some strong tactical plans. Cho isn't much of a fighter, but he should still be played by an actor who doesn't mind getting his hands dirty. <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Byung-hun" target="_blank">Lee Byung-hun </a>has done some awesome action scenes in those G.I. Joe films. It would be cool to see him widen his acting scope and become the intellectual Amadeus Cho.

<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tigra" target="_blank">Tigra </a>is fast, efficient super heroine that's not as popular as her Marvel counterparts. Her standing in the Marvel Comics universe could use a nice boost, which means she should get some type of feature in an upcoming Marvel movie. WWE's toughest Diva right now has to be the the daughter of the great <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmy_Snuka" target="_blank">Jimmy Snuka</a>, <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarona_Reiher" target="_blank">Tamina Snuka</a>. Tamina looks the part and her physical attributed should make her quite fit to play Tigra. Both Tamina and Tigra are high-flying beauties who can kick plenty of ass.
